Football Preview – Pacific and Liberty – 11 August 2022

In today’s edition of Friday Fast Break, we take to the football pitch to observe two teams looking to build on their success from last season. Both Liberty and Pacific have an exceptional group of returning players who will be looking to lead their teams to a deep run in the state playoffs.

Liberty head coach Tony Luedecke welcomes eight starters from last year’s district championship team and will be counting on them to help win the school’s first conference title. Carson Nolan will be a player to watch in the region this season as he can score and assist from his midfield position while Piggy Galaway will add depth from his forward position.

Steve Smith enters his second year at Pacific with an outstanding core group of comebacks who will compete in the tough Four River Conference. Conference Defenseman of the Year Ayden Biedenstein returns to lead the Indians on the defensive end while Jacob Turner will add punch from his forward position.

2021 Highlights – Won their district last season before falling to John Burroughs in MSHSAA State Sections.

Returning players: Carson Nolan – Attacking Midfielder, Bryson King – Central Defender, Jack Andrzejewski – Outside Defender, Schrader Ludwig – Central Defensive Midfielder.

Players to watch: Carson Nolan – Extremely sneaky attacking midfielder who will connect play and score goals.

Schrader Ludwig- Dominate senior playing in midfield who will dictate the pace of play.

Piggy Galaway – winger with some of the fastest feet I’ve seen. Looks to take on defenders and beat them 1v1.

Turner Lively – Looking to step up and score a bunch of goals for us.

Season outlook:We’re looking to bounce back from a tough section game loss to John Burroughs,” Luedecke said. “We’ve lost two all-state seniors, but we’re also bringing back a lot of players. Our goal for the season is to win the conference for the first time in school history and win another district title and make another run at state.

Trevor Klund has an engine on him and never gives up, plays both sides of the ball very well. Jacob Turner is our playmaker and captain.

Sach Wolf is the fastest defending footballer I have ever seen.

Players to watch: Freshman Lucas Tennyson and Gage Clark could be top players on the road.
