Ibrahim Galadima Table Tennis Championship serves on November 3
The annual UGS Consultant and Table Tennis Ibrahim Galadima Championship has been set for November 3-5, 2021 at the Indoor Sports Hall of Sani Abacha Sports Complex, Kofar Mata, Kano.
All the necessary arrangements are in place for the success of the 3rd edition of the championship.
The organizers, in a statement signed by coach Salaudeen Mushafi’u, revealed that a total of 32 players will feature in the UGS consultant while 16 players will compete in Ibrahim Galadima’s championship cup.
The statement added that the preliminary round will take place on Saturday and Sunday, October 30 and 31, while the main championship draws will take place next week.
Coach Mushafi’u said the sponsor, CEO of consultant UGS, Engr Sulaiman Musa Sulkhan, is sponsoring both championships as part of his contribution to identifying hidden talents for future national and international engagements.
He praised Sulkhan for his commitment to keeping teeming youngsters occupied with sports and called on other wealthy people and corporate organizations to emulate him.
He, however, called on the state government to build an indoor table tennis facility to encourage and support teeming players to achieve their dreams.
“Table tennis is an indoor game, but here in Kano we lack that facility. We had to play outside, which had a lot of impact on the players’ mastery of the game.
“We believe Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje has a keen interest in the sport and he likes to see things run smoothly in the state,” Mushafi’u said.
Kano State Sports Commission Executive Chairman Alhaji Ibrahim Galadima is expected to be the special guest of honor at the competition’s closing ceremony scheduled for Friday, November 5, 2021 at the Sani Abacha Sports Complex in Kofar Mata .
