IUB Wins Mixed Doubles Table Tennis Gold

Bangladesh Independent University won gold in the mixed doubles table tennis event, beating Jagannath University in straight sets in the ongoing Bangabandhu Inter-University Sports Championship, a press release said on Sunday.
The IUB mixed doubles team was composed of Sharmin Islam Shroddha, a student of computer science and engineering, and Md Rifat Mahmud Sabbir, a student of human resource management.
The final match took place on Saturday at the Ashulia campus of Daffodil International University.
Earlier in the day, IUB reached the final by beating North South University in straight sets in the semi-finals. With this victory, the IUB has now won a total of four medals in the championship: two gold, one silver and one bronze.
IUB Vice-Chancellor Tanweer Hasan said, “Another wonderful moment for IUB. Congratulations to Sharmin Islam Shroddha and Md Rifat Mahmud Sabbir for winning gold in mixed table tennis. In every event that IUB has placed at the top of this championship, our male and female students have done equally well. The success of mixed doubles table tennis means that when men and women work in tandem, only good things can happen.
