The Mount St. Mary’s Mountaineers and the Pacific Tigers face off in college basketball at the Alex G. Spanos Center on Tuesday. Mount St. Mary’s is 2-3 this year following a loss to Cal Poly on Sunday. As for the Pacific, they sit at 2-2 overall and are coming off a loss to CSU Fullerton. Mount St. Mary’s suffered a 76-58 loss to West Virginia in its opener after a 30-18 first-half deficit. A loss to Coppin State came in Game 2, then the Mountaineers beat McDaniel 60-38 before another loss to USC 83-74.

Mount St. Mary’s took on Cal Poly in Sunday’s game. The Mountaineers scored 30 points in the first half and 43 more from there in a 73-68 victory. Jalen Benjamin led the scoring with 18 points and six assists with four rebounds.

On the Pacific side, they faced Stanford in their first game this year. The Tigers trailed 44-32 at halftime and lost 88-78. Pacific, however, managed to win its next two games, eliminating North Dakota State 91-86 and North Dakota 93-63.

In Game 4 against CSU Fullerton on Friday, the Tigers forced overtime with a 43-37 second-half comeback. After two overtime periods, Pacific ended in a 94-91 loss. Jordan Ivy-Curry led the team with 19 points and Cam Denson added 16 more.

TAKE: I’ll take Pacific here. The Tigers come out of a marathon game against CSU Fullerton in an unfortunate loss. Pacific shot 40.3% from the field in that one and rebounded 54-41 (21-13 offensive). The Tigers have scored well this year with 78 or more points in all four games. As for Mount St. Mary’s, they’ve had some good point totals themselves this year and I like that they’ve been hanging around until the end.

Andrew’s Free Pick:
