The Solomon Islands will participate in the first Asian Games Virtus Oceania 2022

According to the Solomon Islands National Paralympic Committee (SINPC), the final Paralympic team roster will soon be released, ready to compete in para-athletics, para-swimming, para-table tennis and para-sailing.

History will be made for the Solomon Islands as athletes with intellectual disabilities prepare to represent the country for the first time at the inaugural Virtus Oceania Asia Games 2022 in Brisbane, Australia on November 12, 2022.

18 athletes with intellectual disabilities were selected out of 26, and have since undergone IQ testing with Australian psychologist Peter Haninine at the Solomon Islands National Institute of Sport – SINIS.

According to the Solomon Islands National Paralympic Committee (SINPC), the final Paralympic team roster will soon be released, ready to compete in para-athletics, para-swimming, para-table tennis and para-sailing.

SINIS continues to provide support through the High-Performance Portfolio 3 performance team as training continues through sports-specific programs including the Wellbeing & Lifestyle Performance service.

The Virtus OA Games 2022 will take place in Brisbane from November 5-11. About 1,000 participants from more than 25 countries in the Asia and Pacific region are expected to participate in the first regional Games.

OA Games is a multi-sport event including international sanctions and rankings for athletics, swimming, table tennis, leading to the 2023 Vichy World Games and the 2024 Paris Paralympic Summer Games.
